Former justice minister to testify in PST oversight hearing after all
Former Norwegian justice minister Emilie Enger Mehl (Centre Party) will attend a parliamentary oversight committee hearing on the Police Security Service (PST) on 22 May, reversing her earlier decision, Dagbladet reports.
Committee chair Per-Willy Amundsen told NTB that Mehl recently notified him her university had adjusted its schedule, allowing her to participate in the closed hearing. She had initially declined due to exam commitments while pursuing a master’s degree at INSEAD business school in France.
The hearing follows a December 2025 report by Norway’s Auditor General, which criticised the Ministry of Justice and Emergency Preparedness for failing to provide PST with necessary resources and tools between 2019 and 2024. Mehl served as justice minister from 2021 until February 2025.
