The Faroe Islands recorded just 30 divorces in 2025, less than half the number from two years prior, according to new figures from the national statistics office Hagstova Føroya.

Last year’s total marks a significant decline from 2024, when 66 couples divorced, and a steep drop from 2010, the peak year with 131 divorces. Meanwhile, marriages reached their highest level since 2006, with 251 weddings in 2025—up from 246 the previous year.

More than half of the Faroese population remains unmarried, with 54.3 percent classified as single, the data shows.
