Boat capsizes in Ähtäri leaving two people in the water
A boat has capsized on Lake Hankavesi in Ähtäri, western Finland, leaving two people in the water, according to a report by Finnish public broadcaster Yle on Wednesday morning.
The accident occurred on Hankavesi, part of the Ähtäri lake system, a few kilometres from the town centre. Emergency services dispatched multiple rescue units to the scene and attempted to save those in the water.
Rescue authorities have stated that further updates on the incident will be provided by police. The area is known for its tourism, including the Ähtäri Zoo and surrounding attractions.
