Two people died in a serious traffic collision on the island of Karmøy in Rogaland county on Tuesday, Norwegian newspaper Dagbladet reports.

The deceased were an 80-year-old man and a 70-year-old woman, both travelling in the same car when it collided with a truck on County Road 547 (Karmøyvegen). Emergency services, including air ambulance and rescue helicopter, responded to the scene.

Police initially described the incident as serious, with first aid administered at the location. Authorities confirmed the fatalities and notified next of kin. The road was closed for several hours but reopened by 7:03 PM.

Investigators from the Norwegian Public Roads Administration’s accident group and police forensic technicians examined the site. A formal investigation has been launched.
