Stolen goods from Tórshavn burglary listed for sale on Faroese Facebook marketplace
Items stolen during a burglary in Tórshavn have been recovered after being listed for sale on Rótikassan, a popular Faroese Facebook marketplace, reports Faroese broadcaster Kringvarp Føroya.
The stolen goods—including toys, clothing, and a boat—were identified by the victims while browsing the group, which has over 45,000 members. Police confirmed the case and charged the seller with theft. Authorities have not disclosed whether any of the stolen items were sold before recovery.
Rótikassan is widely used in the Faroe Islands for buying and selling secondhand goods, with listings ranging from small household items to larger assets like vehicles.
