Traffic through the Faroe Islands’ underwater tunnels saw mixed trends in April, with declines in three tunnels and a notable increase in the Vágatunnilin, public broadcaster Kringvarp Føroya reports.

The Sandoyartunnilin recorded an average of 1,118 vehicles per day in April, up from 1,041 in March. Meanwhile, the Eysturoyartunnilin saw a slight drop, with 6,632 daily vehicles compared to 6,708 in March. The Norðoyatunnilin also experienced a minor decrease, from 4,337 to 4,324.

In contrast, the Vágatunnilin—the oldest underwater tunnel in the Faroes, opened in 2002—saw a significant rise, with daily traffic reaching 2,954 in April, an increase of over 200 from March’s 2,738.
