Ikea to open small-format store in Lahti
Ikea will open a compact store in the southern Finnish city of Lahti after the summer, the company announced on Tuesday, Etelä-Suomen Sanomat reports first.
The new outlet, located in the Laune shopping centre, will stock around 2,000 of the retailer’s most popular products alongside design services and food offerings. The 2,500-square-metre store is expected to create approximately 20 jobs.
The launch is part of Ingka Group’s international pilot project testing smaller Ikea formats. Similar stores are set to open in several other countries. Finland currently has five full-size Ikea stores and two planning studios.
