Faroese ferry union to adjust position after failed wage negotiations
The Faroese ferry workers’ union will revise its stance this week following the collapse of recent wage talks, according to union chair Stefan í Skorini.
Speaking to public broadcaster Kringvarp Føroya, Stefan í Skorini confirmed the union would reassess its position after negotiations broke down last week. He declined to specify the union’s next steps but stated changes would be made within the week.
Jan Højgaard, chair of the Fishermen’s Association, and Annfinnur Garðalíð, chair of the Skippers’ and Navigators’ Association, both criticised the proposed wage adjustments. The ferry union chair acknowledged that amendments to the agreements would be necessary to achieve balance.
The Fishermen’s and Skippers’ associations told Kringvarp Føroya that all options remain open as negotiations continue.
