Armed police respond to suspected violent crime in Rovaniemi residential area
Finnish police launched a visible operation in a detached housing area of Rovaniemi on Tuesday, investigating a suspected violent crime, according to a statement from authorities. Police confirmed there is no ongoing threat to the public.
The operation began after emergency services received a report at 1:07 PM local time regarding a possible violent incident at a private residence. Multiple police units, including armed officers, were deployed to the scene.
Witnesses told the tabloid Iltalehti that authorities carried a bloodied individual from behind the property on a stretcher. The paper also reported officers had entered the rear of the house carrying assault rifles prior to the removal.
