Norwegian man dies in boat accident off Bali

A Norwegian man in his 30s has died after being struck by a boat while fishing near Nusa Penida island off Bali, according to local media reports cited by Norwegian outlets VG and Dagbladet.

The man, who worked as a teacher on the Indonesian island, drowned in the collision and could not be resuscitated. Indonesian police are investigating the incident and have interviewed witnesses, local media stated.

Vemund Nordvik, chair of the board at GoStudy—the organisation employing the victim—told VG that the man had worked as a teacher for them for 13 years. The deceased’s next of kin have been informed of the media coverage, Nordvik confirmed.

Norway’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs told news agency NTB it currently has no information about the case.
