A second Finnish activist from the Global Sumud aid flotilla attempting to reach Gaza has returned to Finland, the Finnish delegation confirmed to news agency STT on Wednesday.

The Israeli military intercepted the flotilla’s vessels overnight between Wednesday and Thursday, detaining 175 activists, according to the convoy’s organisers. The group reported that violence was used against detainees aboard an Israeli warship.

Alex Oksanen, the returned activist and deputy chair of Left Youth of Finland, told STT they had witnessed the violent incidents but avoided serious injury.

One Finnish activist remains aboard the flotilla, which is still en route toward Gaza.
