Two cars collide head-on in Luumäki, road closed to traffic
A head-on collision between two passenger cars has closed a section of Kuutostie road in Luumäki, southeastern Finland, according to a report by Finnish public broadcaster Yle. Emergency services remain at the scene as of 18:00 local time.
The accident occurred near Taavetti, along the stretch toward Kouvola. Fire Chief Pasi Tarkiainen confirmed the road is fully closed, with a detour in use. Authorities estimate the closure may last one to one and a half hours.
Three people were involved in the collision. A rescue helicopter was dispatched to the scene, though no further details on injuries have been released. The South Karelia Rescue Department first received reports of the accident shortly before 16:30.
Police confirmed at 18:00 that operations at the site were still ongoing.
