The food delivery service Uber Eats has begun operations in Finland, the company announced through its app on Monday. The move introduces a new competitor in the Finnish market following Foodora’s exit earlier this year.

Customers can now use the Uber app—not just for ride-hailing but also to order food delivery or transport goods. The expansion follows months of speculation, with Uber Eats first signaling its plans to enter Finland in October.

The launch comes after rival delivery platform Wolt, now owned by US-based DoorDash, dominated the Finnish market. In February, Foodora announced it would cease operations in Finland, citing intense competition. That same month, the Financial Times reported that Uber Eats planned to expand into seven European countries, including Finland, aiming for an additional $1 billion in sales over the next three years.

Uber Eats was established over a decade ago as a food delivery offshoot of the ride-hailing service Uber. The company has since grown into a global operation, though its entry into Finland marks its latest push into Northern Europe.
