Protesters block Norwegian central bank entrance with glue and chains
Between 15 and 20 demonstrators blocked the entrance to Norges Bank in Oslo on Tuesday morning, with several chaining or gluing themselves to objects, Dagbladet reports.
Police confirmed they are working to remove the protesters, using solvents to safely detach those who have glued themselves in place. “This involves a certain fire hazard, so when another demonstrator attempted to light a cigarette, we had to intervene to prevent it,” operations leader Rune Hekkelstrand told the newspaper just before noon.
A car with a trailer is also obstructing the entrance, with one protester reportedly chained to it. No injuries have been reported, but over 20 people have been removed from the area and directed to a designated protest zone.
The Palestinian Committee and the Action Group for Palestine have claimed responsibility for the blockade, which coincides with an event taking place at the bank. Images from the scene show demonstrators lying on the ground, with one sign reading “Arrest Stoltenberg.”
“It’s a wrongly parked car that we’re working to tow away,” Hekkelstrand confirmed.
