Royal Caribbean Group has confirmed an order for two additional Icon-class cruise ships to be built at Meyer Turku shipyard, Finnish public broadcaster Yle reports. The vessels, set for delivery in 2029 and 2030, mark the sixth and seventh in the line’s Icon series.
The agreement extends the long-term partnership between the cruise operator and the Finnish shipbuilder. “Through our long-standing collaboration, we are reshaping the industry for decades to come while generating significant economic impact for Finland,” Royal Caribbean Group CEO Jason Liberty stated.
Meyer Turku has already delivered two Icon-class ships—Icon of the Seas and Star of the Seas—with a third, Legend of the Seas, nearing completion this summer. The fourth, Hero of the Seas, is scheduled for 2027, while a fifth is currently under construction.
“This order for the sixth and seventh Icon-class ships is a major recognition of Meyer Turku’s expertise and Finnish maritime industry excellence,” said Meyer Turku CEO Casimir Lindholm. “It represents an important milestone in our partnership with Royal Caribbean Group.”
The deal was first reported by Finnish daily Helsingin Sanomat.
