Cyclist dies after crashing off road in Ringsaker
A man in his 20s was confirmed dead at the scene after veering off the road while cycling in Ringsaker municipality, Dagbladet reports.
The accident occurred Saturday morning on Tingnes road in Innlandet county. Emergency services responded after the cyclist, part of a larger training group, left the roadway on a gently sloping downhill stretch that allows for higher speeds, according to operations manager Frode Øverås.
Police initially reported the cyclist was critically injured and airlifted to hospital, but later confirmed he had died at the scene. The victim’s next of kin have been notified.
Norway’s Public Roads Administration accident investigation team arrived around 1 p.m. to examine the site, with the road remaining closed during their work. Police have conducted interviews and on-site investigations.
