A Faroese chess commentator has admitted to inventing an entire week’s worth of chess analysis and reporting, national broadcaster Kringvarp Føroya revealed on Saturday.

Fróði Løkságarð, a regular contributor to the public broadcaster’s weekly chess segment Vikan á skák (“Week in Chess”), confessed that none of the games, players, or tournaments he discussed in the latest episode actually existed.

The admission came after listeners raised doubts about the authenticity of the segment, which aired on April 25, 2026. Løkságarð reportedly told the broadcaster, “Everything falls apart without reality,” acknowledging that the entire broadcast was fabricated.

Kringvarp Føroya has not yet commented on potential consequences or whether the segment will continue.
