The popular Café Edge in Mikladalur on Kalsoy will remain closed this summer, despite a record number of tourists visiting the Faroe Islands, Kringvarp Føroya reports.

While tourism revenue has risen significantly—according to Visit Faroe Islands’ annual report—Café Edge has decided not to reopen for the season.

Eirikur í Jákupsstovu and Árni Skaale, both members of the Faroese parliament, along with Guðrið Højgaard, director of Visit Faroe Islands, discussed the challenges in tourism coordination during a recent radio program. All three agreed that better collaboration and planning are needed in the sector.

The closure comes as tourism numbers continue to climb, raising questions about how local businesses and authorities can align to meet demand.
