Faroe Islands seeks bids for public sector freight transport contracts
The Faroese Tax Authority has invited tenders for freight transport services on behalf of 80 public institutions, with contracts valued at 8.3 million Danish kroner in 2024, Kringvarp Føroya reports.
Major clients include the state alcohol monopoly Rúsdrekkasølan, public works agency Almannaverkið, the national hospital Landssjúkrahúsið, broadcaster Kringvarpið, and the national archives Tjóðsavnið. The bulk of last year’s transport—7.4 million kroner—was handled by sea, with air freight costing 400,000 kroner and warehousing 200,000 kroner. Customs clearance fees totalled 300,000 kroner across 800 shipments.
The authority aims to secure a three-year framework agreement, with core responsibilities centred on serving government agencies transporting goods to the Faroe Islands.
