Dispute between two Kolding businesses escalates into pallet wall
A gaming event that drew 2,000 people to Geekd in Kolding sparked a conflict with neighbouring store Billigblomst, culminating in a wall of around 400 pallets being stacked near Geekd’s entrance, reports DR.
The Easter Saturday event, featuring well-known YouTubers, led to long queues outside Geekd. Ronnie Olesen, founder and manager of the gaming store, said the manager of Billigblomst entered his shop days later, upset that he had not been informed about the event.
“He was only interested in one thing: that we never hold another event in the store again, or he would ‘make life difficult for us,’” Olesen told DR. While he apologised and promised to notify Billigblomst of future events, he refused to stop hosting them.
Within 20 minutes of that conversation, Olesen said, the Billigblomst manager began stacking roughly 400 pallets near Geekd’s entrance—on Billigblomst’s own property but blocking access. Surveillance footage confirmed the manager personally placed them, Olesen added.
“It’s strange and a bit provocative. It escalates the conflict unnecessarily, and customers are puzzled by it,” he said. The pallets were only moved after local media JydskeVestkysten covered the story, though they remained close to the entrance.
Peter Bomholt, CEO of Billigblomst, called the incident “regrettable” and confirmed the pallets had since been fully removed. He acknowledged that Geekd’s event caused parking issues on one of Billigblomst’s busiest days of the year, Easter Saturday, forcing some of their customers to leave.
“This is not how we want to do business,” Bomholt said. “From the neighbour’s perspective, it was harassment, and we cannot accept that.” He added that he would reach out to Olesen to establish better cooperation and prevent future conflicts.
