The first students at the Miðnám vocational college in Vestmanna have completed their training in aquaculture, marking a major step for the Faroese industry, reports Kringvarp Føroya.

Four years after the programme launched, the initial cohort has now graduated. “The aquaculture sector is growing, and the demand for skilled workers is high,” said Magnus Gaard, principal of Miðnám Vestmanna. He noted that most exports from the industry are linked to natural resources, with aquaculture being the largest segment.

“These have been four challenging years, but I feel I’ve gained much better skills,” said Jana Antonsdóttir Dam, one of the graduates.

The vocational training aims to meet the needs of the Faroese economy, where aquaculture plays a central role in both employment and exports.
