The Finnish Transport and Communications Agency (Traficom) has recorded a sharp increase in interference with satellite navigation and mobile networks originating from Russia this spring, according to a report published Wednesday.

Traficom stated that disruptions to satellite navigation systems have risen significantly since February, with some regions experiencing exceptionally high levels of interference. Previously, mobile network disturbances near Finland’s eastern border were primarily observed at night, but recent data shows they now occur during daylight hours as well.

The agency attributed the interference to Russian efforts to protect critical infrastructure within its territory.
