The Trade Union of Education in Finland (OAJ) has issued a strike warning to Oulu University of Applied Sciences (OAMK), with a planned walkout on 6 May if no agreement is reached, Finnish public broadcaster Yle reports.

The dispute centres on proposed cuts to the collective bargaining agreement for universities of applied sciences. OAJ’s labour organisation head, Kaj Raiskio, stated that the strikes target sector-wide fair employment terms rather than individual institutions.

OAMK has never faced a strike before. The union also issued a warning to Jyväskylä University of Applied Sciences on Monday, following its first strike day last week. Today, strikes are taking place at Xamk campuses in Kouvola, Kotka, Savonlinna, and Mikkeli. Further walkouts are scheduled at LAB University of Applied Sciences on Wednesday and Metropolia University of Applied Sciences on Thursday.
