Finland plans shared government workspace for 11 agencies in Hämeenlinna
A new shared workspace for 11 Finnish government agencies, accommodating around 700 employees, is being planned in Hämeenlinna, reports state property manager Senaatti-kiinteistöt.
The project will repurpose buildings 3, 4, and 5 of the historic Linnan kasarms (Castle Barracks) area, located by Lake Vanajavesi. The site is part of a culturally and architecturally significant complex that also includes Häme Castle.
Agencies involved in the planning phase include the State Treasury and HR Service Centre (Palkeet), the Tax Administration, the KEHA Centre for Economic Development, Transport and the Environment, the Finnish Patent and Registration Office, the Legal Services Agency, the Finnish Competition and Consumer Authority, the Finnish Food Authority, the National Land Survey, the state forest enterprise Metsähallitus, the Defence Forces Real Estate Agency, and Senaatti-kiinteistöt itself.
In addition to office spaces, the facilities will house a joint public service point for government administration.
The Castle Barracks area is managed by Senaatti-kiinteistöt and forms part of a protected heritage environment.
