Finnish police are investigating allegations of a drug-related offence and theft at a care home for the elderly in Riihimäki, southern Finland, following a report filed by the Kanta-Häme wellbeing services county, public broadcaster Yle reports.

The Oma Häme wellbeing authority, responsible for social and healthcare services in the region, submitted a request for a police investigation after the suspected incidents came to light. Authorities have not disclosed further details, citing the ongoing preliminary investigation.

No additional information about the nature of the suspected drug offence or theft has been released. Police have declined to comment on the case while inquiries remain active.

The care home in question is located in Riihimäki, part of the Kanta-Häme region. Wellbeing services counties, introduced in Finland’s 2023 social and healthcare reform, oversee municipal responsibilities including elderly care.
