Two women in their early 20s have been sentenced to prison for a series of unprovoked violent assaults in Stockholm, including attacks on a 78-year-old homeless man and a bus driver, SVT Nyheter reports.

Stockholm District Court convicted the women on charges including aggravated assault, two counts of assault, and violence against an official. One received a two-year prison sentence, while the other was sentenced to one year and ten months.

The attacks began in September last year when the women caused a disturbance on a bus in Handen, south of Stockholm. After the driver attempted to remove them, they pulled him down and assaulted him. Later that evening, they attacked a woman in her 50s on another bus.

In February, during a Saturday night at Stockholm Central Station, they targeted a 78-year-old homeless man, beating and kicking him. The court noted the violence was particularly callous, as the victim was kicked in the head while lying on the ground.
