Oslo police charge man in 20s with murder after fatal incident
Oslo police have charged a man in his late 20s with murder following the death of a man in his early 40s in the Ammerud district, Dagbladet reports. Authorities believe the two men knew each other prior to the incident.
Police were alerted to a potential violent incident at a residential address in Ammerud around 12:20 PM on Sunday. Upon arrival, officers discovered the body of the victim. The suspect, who was present at the same location, was detained and formally charged with murder.
In an early stage of the investigation, police confirmed the men had a pre-existing relationship but declined to specify a motive. “It is too early to say anything concrete about the cause of the incident,” authorities stated in a press release. The deceased has been referred for autopsy.
Forensic teams secured evidence at the scene, including items seized from the property, and conducted technical examinations. A canine unit was deployed to search the surrounding area, while officers gathered video footage and questioned witnesses. The suspect has not yet been formally interviewed, as his defence lawyer, Cecilie Nakstad, told Dagbladet on Sunday evening that he was “not in a condition to be questioned.” Nakstad has not responded to further requests for comment.
The initial alert to police came from an individual who had been in contact with the suspect but was not present at the address at the time of the incident. Investigators continue to withhold details regarding witness statements and the suspected cause of death to avoid compromising the ongoing inquiry.
