Günther Mårder, a board member of Sweden’s Public Employment Service (Arbetsförmedlingen), has requested to be dismissed from his position following his detention on suspicion of aggravated insider trading, Swedish public broadcaster SVT Nyheter reports, citing the Ministry of Employment.

Mårder was remanded in custody by Stockholm District Court on Friday on suspicion of urging another person to trade shares in Raysearch Laboratories, a company where he serves as both a board member and partial owner. Prosecutors allege he is suspected, with probable cause, of four instances of aggravated insider trading between 2024 and 2026. Mårder denies the allegations.

The Swedish government appointed Mårder to the employment agency’s board in 2023. He previously served as CEO of the shareholder association Aktiespararna and the business federation Företagarna.
