Faroese shipowners increase share in Faroese International Ship Register

The proportion of Faroese-owned vessels in the Faroese International Ship Register (FAS) has risen to 49 percent, up from 29 percent in 2019, according to the Faroese Maritime Authority.

By the end of 2025, a total of 80 ships were registered in FAS, compared to 83 in 2019 and 75 in 2023. Foreign-flagged vessels in the register operate under Faroese partnerships, the authority confirmed.
