Faroese authorities seek bids to demolish Suðuroy pharmacy building

The Faroese national property agency, Landsverk, is inviting tenders for the demolition of the main pharmacy building in Suðuroy, according to a report by public broadcaster Kringvarp Føroya.

Interested contractors must submit their bids by 30 April, with the winner to be announced on 1 June. The pharmacy, located in Tvøroyri, was forced to relocate last summer after blue stain fungus was discovered in the building.

The municipality had initially leased temporary premises at Sjógøta 2 for one year, with the agreement later extended to the end of 2026. However, local authorities have now decided the pharmacy can remain at the temporary location until 1 August 2027.
