A 34-year-old woman has been detained on suspicion of stabbing a man to death at a mental health and substance abuse rehabilitation facility in Turku, southwest Finland, Yle reports.
The incident occurred last weekend at the Esperi Care unit on Ruissalontie, where the suspect allegedly stabbed the male victim multiple times. Emergency services were called to the scene around noon on Saturday after reports of a dispute between two adults in the residence. The injured man died despite receiving first aid.
The facility, named Ratamo Turku, provides round-the-clock supported housing and lighter residential services for adults recovering from mental health issues or substance abuse. Police confirmed no other individuals were involved in the altercation.
Esperi Care declined to comment on whether residents or staff were present during the incident. The deadline for filing formal charges is set for June 17, 2026.
