The local council of Klaksvík has approved a residential requirement for four land plots it plans to sell in the Mikladalur area, public broadcaster Kringvarp Føroya reports.

The plots, each measuring 550 square metres, will be sold for 300 krona per square metre, totalling 165,000 krona. The requirement stipulates that at least one registered resident aged 15 or older must live on each property, though the owner is not obligated to occupy the home themselves.

The decision was supported by a majority of the Klaksvík municipal council.
