Three men in their 30s have been charged with murder or complicity in murder after a woman in her 30s was found dead in an elevator in Oslo’s Grønland district on Saturday, Dagbladet reports. All three deny the charges.

Police confirmed that all suspects have been questioned, with the final interrogation taking place on Tuesday evening. Each has denied criminal responsibility. “It deeply affects him to be charged in such a serious case while being innocent, especially as someone he knows has died,” said Daniel Storrvik, defence lawyer for one of the men.

Another suspect, represented by lawyer Knut Ditlev Simonsen, reportedly did not know the victim. “He does not recognise the charges,” Simonsen stated. The third man, questioned on Tuesday, also maintains his innocence, according to his lawyer, Knut-Erik Storlykken Søvik.

The three remain in custody at Oslo’s central arrest facility. Police have not yet decided whether to seek pre-trial detention, with a decision expected no earlier than Wednesday. Simonsen argued there is “no basis” for detention.

Investigators continue to gather evidence, including witness statements, forensic analysis, and digital seizures. Section leader Anne Alræk Solem of Oslo Police’s serious crime unit declined to specify what links the suspects to the death or the cause of death, citing the early stage of the investigation. “We are working with significant resources,” she said, adding that additional arrests have not been ruled out.

A nearby shopkeeper, who wished to remain anonymous, told Dagbladet that surveillance footage showed four men and a woman entering the building on Saturday. About an hour later, three men left.

Police urge anyone with information to come forward.
