Surveillance cameras have been installed without permission at every entrance of the Skúlaheimin student residence in Marknagil, Tórshavn, according to a report by Faroese broadcaster Kringvarp Føroya (KVF). Students have raised concerns about the unauthorised monitoring, calling it an invasion of privacy.

The cameras were set up by Glasir, the company managing the residence, without prior notice or legal authorisation. Students have now filed a complaint with the Faroese Data Protection Agency (Dáuteftirlitið) over the unauthorised surveillance.

Under Faroese law, the installation of surveillance cameras requires explicit permission, which was not obtained in this case.
