Ukrainian president arrives in Norway for talks with prime minister
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy landed in Oslo on Tuesday for a bilateral meeting with Prime Minister Jonas Gahr Støre, Norwegian newspaper Dagbladet reports.
Zelenskyy’s aircraft crossed into Norwegian airspace at 5:15 PM local time before landing at Oslo Airport Gardermoen at 5:30 PM, according to open flight data. This marks his fourth visit to Norway since the Russian invasion.
Støre stated earlier in the day that he looked forward to discussing how Norway and Ukraine could further strengthen their cooperation. “I am pleased to welcome President Volodymyr Zelenskyy to Norway for the fourth time,” he said. “Ukraine is not only the largest recipient of Norwegian support but also an important partner that contributes to Norway’s security.”
The visit has prompted increased security measures, including airspace restrictions over Oslo and surrounding areas from 2:00 PM on Tuesday until 3:00 PM on Wednesday. Both manned and drone flights are prohibited without special permission, and police escorts are expected in the capital.
