The CEO of Smyril Line, Jórun Gardar, has been elected as a new member of the board of directors at Betri Bank, Faroese national broadcaster Kringvarp Føroya reports.

The appointment was made at the bank’s annual general meeting on Tuesday, where Gardar replaces Marion á Lakjuni, who had served on the board since 2015 but declined re-election. Evy Jacobsen and Jens Johan Dam were re-elected to their positions.

Following the meeting, the board reorganised, with Flemming B. Nielsen continuing as chair and Evy Jacobsen as deputy chair. The full board now consists of Nielsen, Jacobsen, Dam, Janet F. Johannesen, Ivan Christiansen, Gardar, Sverri M. Edvinsson, Ann Gvøðny Dánialsdóttir, and Tanja M. Ósá.

Shareholders also approved a dividend payout of 50 million DKK to the bank’s parent company, Betri. The cooperative-owned Betri Group reported a 2025 surplus of 330 million DKK in March.
