The Faroese Centre Party is set for a shift in direction under its new leader, Steffan Klein Poulsen, who says he is “more conservative” than his predecessor, Kringvarp Føroya reports.

Poulsen, elected last year as party leader, told the broadcaster that his leadership will mark a change in the party’s profile. “We each come from different families and different backgrounds, and of course, you are influenced by where you come from,” he said. “But as party leader, I will work from the foundation on which the Centre Party was built—and that is the Christian foundation.”

The transition follows Jenis av Rana’s tenure as leader, with Poulsen now steering the party in the Faroese parliament, the Løgting.
