Faroese parliament parties negotiate committee seats ahead of Monday session
The Faroese parliament’s political parties are using this week to negotiate the distribution of committee seats before Monday’s session, where new committee members will be elected, Kringvarp Føroya reports.
The three traffic ministers—representing different parties—must now divide the committee seats among themselves. The parliament will also elect representatives to the Nordic Council and the West Nordic Council, as well as appoint parliamentary auditors.
Last year, the newly elected parliament convened for the first time, selecting Johan Dahl of the Union Party as speaker. Prime Minister Beinir Johannesen then appointed his new cabinet.
