Around 1.4 million Finnish wage earners, benefit recipients, and pensioners must verify their pre-filled tax returns by today, the Finnish Tax Administration reminded on Wednesday, reports public broadcaster Yle.

Taxpayers should review the details in their pre-completed tax forms. If all information is correct, no further action is required. Missing or incorrect details must be corrected or added by the end of the day.

Finland has three tax filing deadlines in April for different groups of taxpayers. Individuals can check their specific due date via the Omavero online service or their tax return documents.

Those verifying their tax returns through Omavero will also automatically gain access to electronic official mail if they have not already opted in. From today onward, authorities will prioritise sending official correspondence digitally rather than by post.

Electronic official mail becomes available when a person logs into a government agency’s online service for the first time. Those who do not use digital services will continue to receive paper letters.
