Finland switches official government mail to digital-first system
Finland’s government communications will shift primarily to digital delivery from today, public broadcaster Yle reports, citing the Finnish news agency STT.
Under the new system, users logging into a government e-service for the first time will be directed to activate the Suomi.fi messaging platform. Once enabled, official mail will no longer be sent by post as a default.
Those who do not use digital services will continue to receive paper letters. According to the Finnish Tax Administration, around 2.7 million Finns have already opted for electronic government mail.
