Sørvágur municipality signs agreement for new sports hall
Sørvágur municipality has signed a contract with construction company Kanjon to build a new sports hall for approximately 44 million Danish kroner, Kringvarp Føroya reports.
The facility, planned for completion by October 2027, will replace the current home venue of local volleyball club SÍ Sørvágur. Construction is set to begin in the 2027–2028 winter season.
Mayor Eyð Ellingsgaard confirmed the agreement was finalised on Monday afternoon. Kanjon won the tender with a bid of 43.5 million kroner, the lowest among four submissions. The new hall will be built at Mýrum in Sørvágur.
Discussions in the municipal council had previously centred on improving conditions for volleyball, though the facility will also accommodate other sports. The project follows years of debate over the need for modernised infrastructure to support local athletic activities.
