Faroese parliament elects Johan Dahl as speaker
The Faroese parliament, the Løgting, has elected Johan Dahl of the Union Party as its speaker for the next four years, national broadcaster Kringvarp Føroya reports.
Dahl secured the position with 32 votes in favour and one blank ballot. Elsebeth Mercedes Gunnleysdóttir of the People’s Party will serve as first deputy speaker, while Hervør Pálsdóttir of the Republic Party was chosen as second deputy speaker after a draw with the Social Democratic Party. Jóhannis Joensen of the Social Democratic Party will act as the third deputy speaker.
The leadership team will hold their positions for the next four-year term.
