The Faroese parliament, Løgtingið, will hold its first session on Monday following the general election, with a formal ceremony later appointing the new cabinet, reports Faroese broadcaster Kringvarp Føroya.

The newly elected parliament will convene at 10:00 local time, with the oldest member—Jenis av Rana of the Centre Party, aged 73—traditionally opening the session. The first order of business will be ratifying the election results, after which members must resign from any government-appointed committees or boards, except those directly elected by the public.

Following this, a new speaker and three deputy speakers will be elected. The final item on the agenda is a proposal to appoint Beinir Johannesen, leader of the People’s Party, as prime minister (løgmaður). At 29, Johannesen will become the youngest prime minister in Faroese history.

At 14:00, a ceremony at Tinganesi will formally install the new government. Prime Minister Johannesen will announce his six-member cabinet:
– Aksel V. Johannesen (Finance)
– Bárður á Lakjuni (Culture and Development)
– Bárður á Steig Nielsen (Foreign Affairs and Fisheries)
– Eyðdis Hartmann Niclasen (Health and Energy)
– Jacob Vestergaard (Labour)
– Margit Stórá (Social Affairs)

Outgoing ministers Sirið Stenberg, Eirikur í Jákupsstovu, Ruth Vang, and Djóni Nolsøe Joensen will leave office, while Aksel V. Johannesen and Margit Stórá will continue in new roles.

The new ministers will assume their duties on Tuesday.
