Two dead in early morning fire in Rauma

A fire in a row house in Rauma early Sunday morning has left two people dead, according to a report by Finnish public broadcaster Yle.

The Southwest Finland Police Department received an emergency call shortly after 4 a.m. about a blaze at a residential building on Lensunkalliontie street. The three-unit row house was engulfed in flames upon arrival.

Firefighters discovered two bodies in one of the apartments, the Satakunta Rescue Department confirmed. A second unit was unoccupied, while two residents in the third apartment were examined by paramedics. Fire suppression efforts remain ongoing.

Police have launched an investigation into the cause of the fire and the circumstances surrounding the deaths.
