Elderly man drowns in Pyhäjärvi lake in Nokia

A man born in the 1930s drowned while boating on Lake Pyhäjärvi in Nokia on Saturday, reports Finnish public broadcaster Yle. Authorities are investigating the incident as a coroner’s inquiry, with no suspicion of foul play.

Passersby discovered the man’s body near the shore and alerted emergency services shortly before 10 a.m. Police and rescue units responded to the scene, confirming the man had been out on the lake in a boat.

Police stated that the case will proceed as a routine death investigation, with no indications of criminal activity.
