The head of the Faroese Union Confederation (Starvsfelag) has expressed hope that the working week for public transport employees will soon be reduced by two hours, national broadcaster Kringvarp Føroya reports.
Súni Selfoss, chair of the confederation, welcomed wage increases outlined in the sector’s collective agreement but stressed that a shorter workweek remains a key demand. He also highlighted the importance of tax deductions for union membership fees.
Speaking to KVF’s radio news, Selfoss did not specify a desired cap for the union fee deduction but noted that both Denmark and Norway set their limits at around 7,000 krona annually—roughly equivalent to the membership cost for an average-wage union member in the Faroes.
