New cancellation rule for online stores to simplify order returns
Online retailers in Finland must provide a clear and easily accessible way for customers to cancel orders starting in June, the Finnish Competition and Consumer Authority announced on Thursday.
The new legal requirement, effective from June 19, applies to all online contracts for goods or services. The cancellation option must be located in the same place where the purchase is made—such as on the retailer’s website or app—though traditional methods like cancellation forms or informal notices will still be accepted.
The rule aims to streamline the process for consumers seeking to withdraw from distance sales agreements.
