Polar night ends in Utsjoki as sun returns
The period of polar night has ended in Utsjoki, northern Finland, as the sun will no longer dip more than 12 degrees below the horizon after today, according to the Astronomical Association Ursa, reports public broadcaster Yle.
In Oulu, further south in the Northern Ostrobothnia region, the polar night will continue for another two weeks. Meanwhile, parts of southern Finland will still experience dark nights well into May.
