Woman assaulted while jogging in Lillestrøm

A woman in her 50s was attacked during an early morning jog in Lillestrøm on Thursday, with a local man in his 30s now charged with attempted rape, Dagbladet reports.

The incident occurred shortly before 6 a.m. near Nebbursvollen, just outside Lillestrøm city centre, according to Øst Police District. Police launched a search involving a helicopter before detaining a suspect matching the description in a nearby forested area.

“The woman was assaulted while jogging but managed to break free and call the police,” operations manager Ronny Mangseth told Dagbladet. She sustained no physical injuries and is receiving support.

Mangseth confirmed the suspect, a local man in his 30s with no prior police record, was apprehended without incident. The investigation is ongoing.
