A new documentary from Swedish public broadcaster SVT examines how cheaper fuel prices influenced the country’s recent election, offering relief to households struggling with high grocery and electricity costs.

The 18-minute programme, titled Vid pump (At the Pump), investigates the broader consequences of the policy shift, exploring its impact on Sweden’s energy transition and future political direction. SVT’s reporting includes interviews at fuel stations and charging points in Sweden and Norway, as well as discussions with policymakers.

The documentary also questions what other developments unfolded in Sweden while fuel prices dominated public debate, and how the election outcome may shape the country’s long-term priorities.

Vid pump is available to stream worldwide on SVT Play until 8 April 2028.
